As a language researcher, I am very interested in how adults learn to vary what they say in a second or non-native languages. This kind of research blurs the line between two subfields of linguistics: second language acquisition and sociolinguistics. I'm also interested in how adult learners develop pronunciation in a second language, how study abroad facilitates second language learning, and task-based language teaching.
